1Title:  An explanation of the map: which delineates that part of the federal lands, comprehended between Pennsylvania west line, the rivers Ohio and Sioto, and Lake Erie; confirmed to the United States by sundry tribes of Indians, in the treaties of 1784 and 1786, and now ready for settlement
 Creator:  Cutler, Manasseh, 1742-1823
St. John de Cráevecoeur, J. Hector, 1735-1813
American Imprint Collection (Library of Congress)
Thomas Waterman Pamphlet Collection (Library of Congress)
Ebenezer Hazard Pamphlet Collection (Library of Congress)
Publication:  Printed by Dabney and Cushing, Salem [Mass.],1787.
Notes:  Published anonymously. The map referred to was apparently a separate publication, A copy of the Explanation, with map, is listed by Sabin (no. 18175) as being in the New York state library, but this is an error since the copy in question had no map. A map in the Library of Congress, which may be the one intended to accompany the Explanation, has the following title: A map of the federal territory from the western boundary of Pennsylvania to the Scioto River: laid down from the latest informations and divided into townships and fractional parts of townships agreeably to the ordinance of the Hon. Congress passed in May, 1785. Signatures: [A]p4sp sB-Cp4s. Extracts from the letters of M. St. John de Crevecoeur: p. 23-24.
